May 2, 2011 - Superior Essex Inc. Announces Acquisition of Furukawa Electric

ATLANTA, GA, May 2, 2011 - Superior Essex Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, Essex Group, Inc. (Essex), has acquired the assets of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (FEC) and American Furukawa, Inc. (AFI) related to the sale and distribution of winding wire (magnet wire) in the United States. 

Essex, FEC and AFI, through various business relationships and technical sharing agreements dating back to 1988, have developed innovative products, a best in class quality reputation, and strong customer relationships with the U.S. locations of major Japanese manufacturers.  Additionally, Essex has concurrently signed a technical agreement with FEC, affirming Essex’ commitment to innovation in the winding wire industry for its customers throughout the United States, Europe and China.
